Ashton Kutcher says his social-media offensive over the personal ads in New York's Village Voice has paid off.

Kutcher used Twitter to challenge American Airlines, Disney and other corporate advertisers over Voice personals he said promoted child prostitution.

The result, The Hollywood Reporter said Saturday, was American Airlines promising -- via Twitter -- to look into the matter and apparently promising to pull their advertisements from the Voice.

Neither the Voice nor American Airlines would confirm the move to The Reporter.

The Reporter said Kutcher and the Voice have been at odds over the public-service campaign against child prostitution that Kutcher and wife Demi Moore have been leading. The newspaper recently ran an article challenging the extent of the problem.

The Voice said that while Kutcher and Moore claim more than 100,000 minors have been forced to work as prostitutes, there have been a little more than 8,000 arrests for child prostitution in the last decade.
