Ann Curry getting at least $10 million to leave 'Today'

UPI News Service, 06/25/2012

NBC will pay Ann Curry at least $10 million to leave the "Today" show in New York this week, network sources told TMZ.

Curry, who has worked for NBC for 15 years, signed a contract when she took over as co-anchor of "Today" in 2011, guaranteeing her $10 million a year for three years, TMZ said.

The celebrity news Web site said the network plans to pay Curry millions to buy out the rest of her contract.

Fox News said NBC is expected to announce a permanent replacement for her this week.

Curry appeared on Monday's edition of "Today," but did not mention her employment situation.

The New York Times reported last week Curry has been talking to network officials about a different job. The show's falling ratings, her lack of chemistry with co-host Matt Lauer and her suitability for hard news are being cited as reasons for the change.
