Amy Winehouse made an unexpected appearance at London's Hawley Arms pub, singing six songs in her first show since 2008.
The British soul singer's addiction to drugs has eclipsed her career in recent years, but the BBC said she wowed the crowd of about 150 by singing "Tears Dry on Their Own," "A Message to You" and some new material in her first full set in two years.
Izzy Lawrence, who runs the Apocalypstick live music night at the pub, told the BBC Winehouse appeared unannounced Tuesday and inquired if it would be OK if she performed.
"Amy just whispered to me, 'I know I'm not on the lineup, but do you mind if I play?'" Lawrence said.
"Obviously, I wasn't going to say no and she got up and played and it was amazing."
