The 41-year-old "Cry-Baby" and "Melrose Place" actress was convicted of vehicular homicide, as well as assault by auto in November. The charges related to a Montgomery Township crash that left one woman dead and her husband critically injured.
The actress is due to be sentenced Feb. 14, but her lawyer has filed a motion for a new trial based on "intervening causes" behind the collision, The (Newark) Star-Ledger reported.
Although the actress had a blood-alcohol content of three times the legal limit, her attorney said she crashed into the other vehicle because she was being chased by another motorist, whom she had rear-ended earlier in the evening.
