Jordin Sparks is ready to showcase her voice in a new way.

The American Idol sixth-season champ will make her Broadway debut this summer in the Tony-winning musical In the Heights, Broadway.com reported Monday.
"It's always been one of my dreams to perform on Broadway," said Sparks in a statement.
"This is a brand new experience for me. I look so forward to spending time in New York City and joining this talented cast and my favorite new musical."
Sparks -- who attended a performance of the show in February -- will play Nina Rosario in the a 12-week run of the musical, which begins August 19 and ends November 14.
In the Heights is set in Upper Manhattan's Washington Heights neighborhood and follows three generations of the community's residents.
It opened in March 2008 and subsequently won Tony Award for Best Musical, Best Choreography, Best Orchestrations and Best Original Score.
