A Catholic school in Wisconsin has canceled an "American Girl" fashion show because the company that makes the dolls gives money to a pro-abortion group.

St. Luke School in Brookfield hoped to raise enough money -- $10,000 to $30,000 -- for a new playground and to refurbish the library, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. American Girl, owned by Mattel Inc., puts on 60 to 65 fashion shows a year, with sponsoring non-profit groups getting money from ticket sales and a percentage of the sales of American Girl products.
"As for us, it's a bargain we'll just have to pass up," the Rev. Frank Malloy said. "The cost is too high. Our integrity isn't for sale."
Two conservative groups have been calling on Catholics to dissociate themselves from American Girl. The company donates to Girl Inc., which has a program to teach girls to take control of their lives. The program includes teaching about birth control and advocates keeping abortion legal.
