America's Got Talent revealed the first group of five twelfth-season finalist acts following Tuesday night's episode in which 11 semifinalist acts had performed for home viewer votes, which turned out to be the highest number of votes cast in the history of the show.

The Top 3 votegetters following Tuesday night's show were Preacher Lawson, a 26-year-old comedian; Darci Lynne, a 12-year-old singing ventriloquist; and Sara, a 22-year-old dog trainer and her five-year-old dog Hero. These three acts automatically earned a spot in America's Got Talent's Season 12 finals as a result.

The five lowest votegetters immediately sent packing were Yoli Mayor, a 21-year-old singer; DaNell Dayton & Greater Works gospel choir; Johnny Manuel, a 32-year-old singer; Benny England and Emily England, a brother and sister roller skating duo; and Mike Yung, a 56-year-old subway singer.

The three remaining acts -- Chase Goehring, a 21-year-old singer/rapper and songwriter; Eric Jones, a 36-year-old magician; and Evie Clair, a 13-year-old singer -- finished in either fourth, fifth or sixth place and were therefore at the mercy of America's live vote via the "Dunkin' Save" as well as the judging panel.

The "Dunkin' Save," which allows home viewers a 30-minute window to vote for their favorite act, eventually saved Evie from elimination. She had also won this special save two weeks ago when trying to enter the semifinals.

America's Got Talent judges Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, Melanie "Mel B" Brown, and Simon Cowell then had to determine whether they'd like to Chase or Eric move forward in the competition.

Last time Eric was in this position, the judges voted for him to stay over The Masqueraders.

"I hate this part of the show. I really do. Like I said before, I love both of you," Heidi told both acts before revealing her decision.

Heidi chose to advance Eric to the next round, but then Mel B picked Chase to move on because he wows the judges every time he performs with his original raps and vibe.

Simon then opted to send Chase through to the next round because he's getting better and better at choosing songs. And last but not least, Howie went with his "instincts" and also decided to advance Chase since he blows people away with his mixture of songs.

America's Got Talent will return Tuesday, September 12 with another set of 11 semifinalist acts competing for one of five spots in the Season 12 finals.

Those acts will be Diavolo, Mandy Harvey, Colin Cloud, In the Stairwell, Pompeyo Family Dogs, Merrick Hanna, Kechi Okwuchi, Angelica Hale, Light Balance, Celine Tam, and Christian Guardino.
