Actress Amber Tamblyn is temporarily joining the cast of the U.S. medical drama "House" while series regular Olivia Wilde shoots a movie, EW.com said.

Wilde is expected to miss several episodes of the show while she co-stars in the film "Cowboys & Aliens."

EW.com said while she's away Tamblyn will play a brilliant medical student recruited by Dr. Gregory House, played by Hugh Laurie, for his medical diagnostic team.

Tamblyn was the star of the former TV drama "Joan of Arcadia." She has also appeared in the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" movies.
