Bynes tweeted around 3 a.m. Saturday morning, "I don't love acting anymore so I've stopped doing it," E!Online reported.
In 2007, Bynes was named one of Teen People's "25 Hottest Stars Under 25." Forbes said her earnings of $2.5 million made her one of "Young Hollywood's Top-Earning Stars," and she has starred in two television shows since age 13.
"Being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem. I've never written the movies and TV shows I've been a part of, I've only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play," she said.
"I know 24 is a young age to retire," Bynes tweeted, "but you heard it here first, I've retired."
