Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan welcome a baby girl

Aishwarya Rai has given birth to a daughter in Mumbai, the Bollywood actress's husband, actor Abhishek Bachchan, confirmed via Twitter.

"IT'S A GIRL!!!!!! :-)))))" the proud father wrote.

"I AM DADA to the cutest baby girl !" Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek's father, said in his own online message. "Ecstatic !!!!"

Members of the Bachchan and Rai families were at Seven Hills Hospital when the baby was born shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday, India Today reported.

Rai and Bachchan married in 2007.
