No laws were broken when employees at an Ohio airport used vehicles to scare and chase coyotes off runways, wildlife officials say.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has concluded the workers at the Dayton International Airport were not trying to kill the animals, the Dayton Daily News reported. One injured coyote was put down in April.
In another incident in April, an employee was hurt when his vehicle turned over while he was driving on wet grass.
Walter Krygowski, the interim director of aviation in Dayton, said Tuesday policy at the airport bans animals from being mistreated. But he said the airport is also required by federal regulations to keep animals off the runways, and employees are allowed to honk at coyotes and to follow them in their vehicles.
David Kohler, a wildlife officer at the DNR office in Xenia, said fences that have been placed around the airport should keep coyotes out in the future.
