Infinity still has not said who will replace morning jock Howard Stern when he leaves for satellite radio, but it looks like Adam Carolla is in the running.

The co-host of the syndicated "Loveline" radio program and a TV late night show on Comedy Central has essentially confirmed he will be taking over Stern's slot in the West Coast markets, Radio & Records reported Monday.
Carolla told the Los Angeles Times during the weekend that his new position "should be like a salmon taking to open water."
"I've done so much morning radio that I won't be overwhelmed by it," he said, "but it's still going to be a challenge."
Carolla said he has not been given a starting date by Infinity yet, but "right now, I hope it's later rather than sooner."
It has been widely reported that Infinity will replace Stern with different hosts in different parts of the country. Former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth has been mentioned as Stern's possible East Coast successor.
