Every little girl dreams of being a princess but for aspiring Los Angeles actress Sarah Culberson that dream has come true.

Adopted by a West Virginia couple two days after her first birthday, Sarah has discovered her biological father reigns over a chiefdom in a southern province of Sierra Leone, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Culberson's journey to the civil war-torn African nation to meet her biological father was filmed by her acting coach and mentor, John Woehrle who accompanied her.

While in Sierra Leone, she learned that her biological father was a visiting college student when he met her birth mother, now deceased, in West Virginia.

Because the couple was too young and poor to care for Sarah properly, they gave her up for adoption.

Culberson tells of the difficulties of growing up as one of the few people of color in Morgantown, W.Va.

"I wanted to make sure I was the best kid ever so they wouldn't send me back," she says.
