Actor Noah Wyle happy with his 'ER' show phase-out

UPI News Service, 05/16/2005

Noah Wyle says he is satisfied with his 11-year run as Dr. John Carter on NBC's medical drama, "ER," and he will appear occasionally in two more seasons.

His last day in the "ER" comes May 26, the series' season finale in which he leaves Chicago's County General Hospital for Africa to work with Doctors Without Borders and reunite with true love Makemba Likasu, played by Thandie Newton, the New York Daily News said Monday.

But "ER" fans haven't seen the last of Dr. Carter. Wyle will appear in eight episodes during the next two seasons. NBC renewed "ER" for three more seasons.

Wyle said he's leaving the show to spend more time with his family. Wyle and his wife are expecting their second child in July. He has also signed on for the sequel to last year's TNT movie "The Librarian," which is set to start production this summer.
