Oscar-winner Chris Cooper and is wife, "Sopranos" co-star Marianne Leone were in mourning Thursday after the death of their 17-year-old son.

Jesse Cooper died at the family's Kingston home Monday night of natural causes related to cerebral palsy. He was the Coopers' only child.

The Coopers have been tireless advocates for special needs kids in the Boston area since moving to the area in 1994, the Boston Herald said.

The couple relocated from the New York area to the South Shore because they said Massachusetts had the more progressive educational opportunities for children with cerebral palsy.

At the time of Jesse's death, the couple were in pre-production on "Conquistadora," a film written by Leone about the brain disorder.
