After only six episodes, ABC has halted production on Heather Graham's midseason comedy "Emily's Reasons Why Not."

The show opened to disappointing ratings Jan. 9 and even lost a huge chunk of viewers from its "Wife Swap" lead-in, Daily Variety reported.

The production shutdown leaves only five more episodes to air, but the network could decide to just trash those and replace the replacement show, Variety said.

"It is a shame," executive producer Gavin Poline told Variety. "A lot of people were working really hard and the show kept improving."

However, he added: "I can't fault ABC, though: they promoted it like crazy and when the audience stays away, in this super-competitive environment, quick decisions are made. That's the television business."
