ABC greenlights Elton John's 'Him and Us' television sitcom

ABC Friday gave the go-ahead for a comedy backed by Elton John and loosely based on the British superstar's life.

The title, "Him and Us," comes from a song on the rocker's latest album, "Peachtree Road," Zap2it.com noted.

"Sex and the City" writer Cindy Chupack is wrote the pilot about an aging rock star and his cohorts.

John and his longtime collaborator, Bernie Taupin, are expected to write some original songs for the show as well.
