Cable TV's A&E Network has announced that it is in talks with Southwest Airlines to shoot another season of Airline, the wacky new reality series that documents the customer service adventures that the airline's employees face daily.

Billed as the series that takes viewers "behind the counter, into the cockpit and beyond the airport tarmac," the network's initial eighteen episode run of Airline premiered on January 5 and is being broadcast via back-to-back 30 minute episodes that air at 10:00 PM ET/PT and 10:30 PM ET/PT every Monday evening,

"We are very pleased with the results of the show so far," said Gina Nocero, a spokeswoman for A&E Network recently told Reuters. A spokeswoman for Southwest also told the wire service that "the show gives a good perspective of what airline employees must deal with on a daily basis," however both parties cautioned that a second season deal for the series has not yet been finalized.

The current season of Airline is showcasing the ups and downs of passengers who board Southwest flights at the bustling Los Angeles International (LAX) and Chicago Midway airports, as well as the corresponding actions of Southwest staff and crew -- from the pilots to the hard-working check-in staff and supervisors who are often on the receiving end of angry customers' wrath. There's been no announcement as to whether a second season of the series would focus on the same two locations, or whether other airport loctions might be used instead.

America's fourth largest carrier, Southwest Airlines originated the concept of low cost, no frills travel. The 32 year-old company carries 65 million passengers every year and, in an industry struggling to cope post 9/11, is still making a profit.

Airline is produced by Granada for A&E Network. Nancy Dubuc is the executive producer for A&E Network. Patrice Andrews is supervising producer. Joe Houlihan and Charles Tremayne are co-executive producers for Granada. Chris Carey is the series producer.
