A&E to debut 'Dog the Bounty Hunter's sixth season on December 2

By Christopher Rocchio, 11/25/2009

A&E has announced Dog the Bounty Hunter's sixth season will premiere on Wednesday, December 2 at 9PM ET/PT.

The one-hour debut represents the reality series' 150th episode and will follow its star Duane "Dog" Chapman as he takes his bounty hunting team in search of a drug addict and reckless driver -- which hits close to home since it occurs on the anniversary of his daughter Barbara Katie's death in a fatal car accident.

Additional sixth-season episodes will follow Chapman and his team -- which includes his wife Beth -- as they travel from their home base in Hawaii to various other states to track down fugitives.

Dog the Bounty Hunter's fifth season -- which aired earlier this year -- averaged 2 million total viewers per original-episode broadcast.

A&E had suspended production on Dog the Bounty Hunter's fifth season and pulled reruns of the show's first four seasons off its primetime programming schedule in November 2007 after a taped phone conversation in which Chapman could be heard repeatedly using the N-word was made public by The National Enquirer.

Chapman subsequently issued a written apology and personally asked for forgiveness from the public during an appearance on Fox News' Hannity & Colmes.

A&E restarted production on Dog the Bounty Hunter fifth-season episodes in February 2008.
