90 Day Fiance star Chantel Everett has revealed the surprising reason why she signed up to appear on 90 Day Fiance with Pedro Jimeno to begin with.

Chantel and Pedro first appeared on Season 4 of TLC's 90 Day Fiance and then starred on Seasons 2, 3 and 4 of its Happily Ever After? spinoff.

But Chantel -- who met Pedro about four years ago -- was apparently a fan of 90 Day Fiance long before that.

"I used to watch 90 Day Fiance. I used to watch 90 Day Fiance while Pedro and I were dating and were early in our engagement, and I really wanted to be a part of the show because I wanted to show everybody how perfect I thought my relationship was," Chantel told E! News in a recent interview.

"And being on the show has made me realize that there is no such thing as a perfect relationship and we have our flaws."

Although Chantel and Pedro's love has been strong throughout the years, the couple has faced numerous obstacles in their relationship, mainly involving their sparring and outspoken family members.

Chantel's parents Karen and Thomas, for instance, wondered if Pedro was using Chantel for money and a Green Card, while Pedro's mother Lidia and sister Nicole in the Dominican Republic thought Chantel was disrespectful and her life in Atlanta, GA, was toxic for Pedro.

As fans may recall, Season 3 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? concluded with Pedro getting into a blowout fight with Chantel's family at the dinner table when his sister Nicole was also present.

When a conversation at the table got heated, Pedro apparently told someone to be quiet and then River yelled at Pedro for being rude.

Pedro then ran across the table and seemingly tried to hit River, which resulted in a broken light and food scattered about. Tempers flared, weaves were pulled off, and the scene culminated into Chantel crying in a chair.

Pedro had to face River again for the first time since their blowout fight while filming the couple's new reality series, The Family Chantel.

"That was the first time we had been in one room together. I feel so uncomfortable, you know?" Pedro told E! News.

"When somebody tries to push your limits, you know you can control yourself. When I [saw] River, the past was coming back to me. I say, 'Why do this to my sister? Why do this to me?'"

But Chantel argued, "[River] didn't do anything to your sister, but we disagree on a lot of things and that's something else you can look forward to seeing in The Family Chantel."

Chantel admitted Pedro being united with her family was "tense" for her as well.

"I was really, really feeling like I was going to have a panic attack," Chantel admitted.

The couple then explained why they believe the 90 Day Fiance franchise has been such a success for TLC.

"Because it's so relatable, and with how diverse America is, you're bound to meet people from different cultures and there's always going to be some differences. It's relatable," Chantel explained.

Pedro also suggested everyone loves love.

"Sometimes you find somebody in another part of the world, you know, and you get in love with that person and you try to get close and [break the] barriers between culture and language. You just try to get together for the love," Pedro shared.

Chantel reiterated how couples' imperfect relationships on the show are also easy to relate to.

The Family Chantel currently airs on Monday nights right after 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way on TLC.
