Nicole's latest trip to Morocco was canceled for undisclosed reasons, and she had hoped to marry Azan during her getaway.

Did this couple ever make it to the altar, or did Nicole's family turn out to be correct when they had accused Azan of being a scammer?

Nicole and Azan initially starred on Season 4 of the original 90 Day Fiance series, followed by Season 5 of the series as well.

That later led into an appearance on Season 3 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? and then Season 4, which just wrapped on TLC. (The reunion special airs on July 21).

Fans have been following Nicole and Azan for quite some time.

They met on a mobile dating app years ago when she was 21 years old and living in Bradenton, FL. Azan was 23 years old and from Agadir, Morocco, at the time.

After talking on the phone and video chatting, Nicole took her feeling for Azan to the next level and decided to travel to Morocco to meet him in person. (She left her then-toddler daughter, May, at home with her family).

Once Nicole and Azan got to know each other in Morocco, Nicole found herself smitten with Azan, but his feelings didn't seem to match up.

Azan, for instance, refused to kiss Nicole in public and stay in the same hotel room with her. He even once told the cameras Nicole was "a little big" compared to what he had been expecting of her physically.

Azan insisted, however, he was just respecting his culture and strict religion by not being intimate or affectionate with Nicole.

Another point of contention was the fact Nicole wouldn't convert to Azan's religion, and he refused to become a Christian as well.

Recordings of what seemed to be Azan on the phone with another woman talking about kissing her also leaked, but Nicole opted to trust Azan and leave the incident in the past.

The couple overcame obstacles together and got engaged, and Nicole anticipated Azan would move to the United States and be with her forever.

But Azan's K-1 visa was denied, leaving Nicole brokenhearted and confused about the next stage of their lives. She therefore decided to travel to Morocco again in the hope of marrying Azan.

This trip was shown on Season 3 of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?. Nicole figured if she married Azan, he'd be able to obtain a spousal visa so he could subsequently move to America.

However, the pair still didn't get married during Nicole's stay in Morocco.

Nicole and Azan decided to postpone their wedding due to alleged financial burdens given Azan wasn't able to hold down a steady job and Nicole didn't have much of an income at the time.

Instead, Nicole claimed she and Azan had come up with the idea to invest all of their money for the wedding into a beauty store.

Azan seemed to convince Nicole to invest $6,000 into opening a beauty store, while he planned to contribute $500 to the overall cost.

Fans were skeptical of the wedding cancellation, thinking it was all Azan's doing and Nicole was just pretending she was onboard with it all because she didn't want to throw Azan under the bus or make him look bad.

Nicole was definitely ready to become a wife, and Azan appeared to be the one who was hesitant about tying the knot.

Nicole therefore left Morocco a single woman and returned to Florida alone.

On the Season 4 premiere of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, cameras caught up with Nicole seven months after she had returned to Florida and was living with her sister and brother. (Nicole had given up her own apartment).

Nicole was shown discussing how she planned to travel back to Morocco to get married to Azan once and for all, and she insisted she was going to spend the rest of her life with Azan.

But Nicole spilled the beans about what happened with the alleged beauty store, and the news probably shocked fans everywhere.

"There is no store," Nicole admitted to a producer. "But I haven't told my family because my family does nothing but grill me."

In a more recent episode, Nicole suggested to Azan they both travel to a vacation spot where Azan wouldn't need a tourist visa and they could be affectionate with each other in public.

Nicole was desperate to see Azan and figured Grenada would be a fun and relaxing place for them to spend some time together.

Nicole, however, was hurting for cash and would need to come up with the money in order to make the trip since Azan wasn't really working.

Meanwhile, Nicole's family continued to express disapproval over her relationship with Azan, especially her mother and father, who remained skeptical of Azan's intentions.

Nicole was apparently sending Azan money all the time because he still wasn't working, and Nicole's mother was concerned because May needed to enroll in Kindergarten within a few months.

Nicole needed a financial plan, and she wasn't sure what to do.

Nicole, however, stood by her man and asked her family not to worry or judge. She even began dieting so she'd look great when Azan saw her next.

"We have a lot of plans for ourselves and our future that are still going along. It's a little slow, but we will eventual figure things out," Nicole said during a broadcast.

"But right now, I don't want to put pressure on Azan. I am not going to be worrying about anything on my vacation to Grenada."

However, as Nicole was packing for the trip, she suddenly got a call from Azan, informing her that he couldn't go due to an undisclosed "family emergency."

Nicole stormed out of the room because she was upset her trip was going to be a wash. Her father was even supposed to tag along and meet Azan for the first time.

Nicole's loved ones weren't happy with Azan, especially her mother Robbalee, who called Azan "a scammer" to her daughter's face.

Nicole, however, insisted it had nothing to do with her and it wasn't intentional on Azan's part. Azan refused to explain on camera why he couldn't go because he thought it would make him look bad.

Given the trip was supposed to last three weeks, it must have been some emergency!

Nicole was clearly disappointed but put on a brave face, and Robbalee noted her daughter was "so enamored" with Azan that she wasn't seeing the truth.

The spinoff later featured Nicole trying to work and save up money so she could visit Azan in Morocco again. She was "so disappointed" her trip to Grenada fell through, but she apparently didn't blame Azan for it at all.

"I was really excited for [the trip], but I don't doubt Azan at all about what's going on with the trip getting canceled and his family emergency," Nicole told the cameras.

Nicole was just trying to focus on herself via diet and exercise until she could see her man again. She even changed her look and dyed her hair purple.

Nicole acknowledged her life was "complicated," and she just didn't want to be a burden to her loved ones, especially her mother Robbalee.

But Nicole decided to stay with her mother for a few weeks until she could return to Morocco. Robbalee said every single time Nicole made plans to marry or see Azan, something would happen last minute and everything would just "blow up."

Nicole insisted she knew what Azan's "family emergency" was, but she refused to share the details with her mother. Nicole said Azan wasn't just ditching her.

Robbalee predicted Nicole returning to Morocco again was going to be "a huge waste of money."

Nicole's stepfather, Joe, even presumed Nicole would return from her trip to Morocco unmarried and alone.

Joe told Nicole that Azan had no intention of marrying her and he'd continue to come up with excuses and back out of wedding plans each and every time.

Joe then revealed to Nicole that he had received an email from someone claiming Azan was just stringing Nicole along. The person claimed Azan even laughed about Nicole behind her back and that his family members do not approve of her.

Nicole refused to "talk about something stupid," thinking it would be ridiculous to believe rumors spread by people who don't even know Azan well.

Nicole didn't care or want to hear what "some guy online" had to say about her relationship.

Nicole wished her family would just support her. She appreciated the worry but wanted her loved ones to trust her.

"I'm in love with my fiance who I plan to marry this time," Nicole told her family. "Things are fine."

In a recent episode of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, Nicole hadn't talked to Azan in a while due to his alleged family emergency, and so she FaceTimed him while in a juice bar with her daughter May.

Azan told Nicole everything was good and things had gotten better -- "thank God."

Nicole's family was pushing to find out what Azan's family emergency had been, but Azan apparently didn't want to share the details and so Nicole didn't believe it was her place to share his personal information.

Nicole then told Azan that she could use her money from the trip to Grenada to travel to Morocco. Azan, however, said he needed about a month to himself first.

"I know, like, this is the time, like, I really, like, I want to get married, you know?" Azan told Nicole over the phone, as she flashed a huge smile.

"You are ready this time?" Nicole asked.

"I think so," Azan replied.

"Fourth time's the charm?" Nicole questioned with a laugh.

"I think so," he noted.

Nicole said she and Azan would wed during her next trip to Morocco and she was convinced this time was going to be different because they had been under time constraints before and didn't have the money to wed.

Nicole told the cameras a simple, on-paper wedding would be "ideal" for them at that point. She told Azan, however, they needed to be more prepared to marry next time they reunited because May was about to start school.

Nicole said Azan wanted May and herself to "feel stable" in Morocco, but if she couldn't start school there, they'd have to return to the United States.

During the finale of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?'s fourth season, Nicole was staying with her mother rent-free in order to save money so she could return to Morocco and actually get married to Azan this time.

There was a flight in a couple of weeks for Nicole and her daughter May, and she planned to pay for it with the refund money from her canceled flight to Grenada.

Nicole was so excited to see the love of her life, leave their issues behind them, and finally tie the knot.

Nicole was then shown calling Azan to inform him that she had purchased plane tickets to Morocco. Azan said he couldn't wait to see Nicole again and his house had been empty without her and May. Azan also insisted he felt ready to get married.

Nicole's mother Robbalee wasn't thrilled about Nicole heading back to Morocco. She wondered if Nicole was truly prepared financially for the trip, and she wanted May to have some structure in her life.

Robbalee asked Nicole if she had a plan for how she and Azan would support themselves, but Nicole didn't have a response and just told her mother not to worry.

Robbalee noted Nicole and Azan could depend on the beauty store they had opened together, but then Nicole admitted there was no store and there was no business.

Robbalee couldn't believe Nicole had been lying to her the entire time, but Nicole said the store just "didn't work out" and she didn't tell her because her mom could be "very pushy" and judgmental.

Nicole said Azan had found work fishing, but Robbalee was very concerned.

Robbalee felt unsettled and said Azan continued to show his "true colors" over and over again. Robbalee thought Nicole's romance was in a tailspin and she may end up crashing and burning.

"Right now, there is not a future that doesn't involve Azan because I love him and want a family with him -- and babies," Nicole said in a confessional.

According to TLC, Nicole canceled her trip to Morocco two weeks later and has still not returned to Morocco. The reason why Nicole canceled her trip was not disclosed.

So are Nicole and Azan still together or was the canceled trip to Morocco the final straw for their relationship?

Nicole and Azan are still a couple, and she claims they keep their romance alive by communicating on Skype and flirting via text.

However, the pair are still engaged and have not gotten married yet.

Rumors started swirling about Nicole and Azan's relationship status following the July 14 finale of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?, but she set the record straight on July 16 in her Instagram Stories.

Nicole posted a screenshot that read, "Her stepdad told a reporter that as soon as she stopped being able to give Azan money, he dropped her. He said that she was trying to go to Morocco and [Azan] asked and told her to cancel her flight and do not come since she had no money to give him!!! He said Azan stopped taking her calls and everything unless she had money for him."

The message continued, "Money from the show had went [to] tickets and trips... She couldn't afford to give him crap so he was done. He kept saying he needed time or stuff had come up for her not to come... Finally before she was about to leave, he told her do not come if she has no money [and] he can't pay for her or May... She doesn't want the world knowing she was used and dumped!! It's sad she allowed this to happen to herself. She needs to worry about her and May and leave boys alone for a long time!!'

Nicole called the lengthy message "fabricated" and "100 percent not true."

"Why do people spend their time spreading lies and rumors?" Nicole said.

Nicole also hosted a Q&A session with fans on Instagram recently and was flooded with questions about whether she is still dating and engaged to Azan from Morocco in light of rumors they've split, In Touch Weekly reported.

When a fan asked Nicole to comment on those breakup rumors, Nicole insisted they are "100% NOT TRUE."

"I [don't know] where this is coming from," Nicole said. "Make sure when you read articles, you check when it was posted. Sometimes old articles circulate. We are still happily together."

When another fan expressed annoyance over the fact "everyone [keeps] saying" Nicole and Azan have called it quits on their romance, Nicole replied, "I really don't know [why those rumors have spread]."

"I haven't seen any articles [saying we've split]," Nicole continued in her response. "I bet someone just said it and kept spreading it. But can we just take a moment and say how crazy it is with how many articles there are about me in the last couple years."

One fan asked Nicole, "What makes you continue your relationship? Don't you get tired of [the] distance?"

And Nicole responded, "I continue our relationship because we love each other, and we want to be together. Distance doesn't mean you give up. It just means you have to fight harder to be together. The journey makes us stronger as a couple and individuals."

Nicole also shared with her followers, "I fell in love with Hassan, and we will fight to be together."

In a July 4 Instagram Stories posting, Nicole gushed about how her "fiance" has been very supportive.

"I know my truth," Nicole wrote, adding that people who criticize Azan and his intentions for their relationship don't know anything.

"I think it's funny how y'all talk like you literally know him and talk to him. If that was true, then he would have stopped talking to me a long time ago since I don't send him money. So can't y'all just stop talking like you actually know him."

Nicole revealed back in May she will marry Azan when "they are ready" and "the right moment" comes -- and it won't be for TV or to satisfy others.

On May 16, Nicole posted a photo of Azan on Instagram and captioned it, "My man crush everyday."

Nicole also took to her Instagram Stories around the same time to put some rumors to rest and reveal the couple will be launching their own YouTube channel.

"I DO NOT send Azan money regularly. May is well take care of and very happy. Yes, crazy as it seems, Azan loves me just as much as I love him. Yes I know I am worthy to be loved by someone who treats me well and Azan is that man," Nicole wrote, according to The Hollywood Gossip.

"Y'all DO NOT know Azan at all like I or his family do... The only people who will 'finally open their eyes' is y'all once y'all see our journey continued on YouTube... I [have known] Azan for THREE AND A HALF YEARS. Azan is not a 'stranger.'"

Nicole continued, "I have probably seen Azan in person before getting married [than] most of the cast members from 90 Day Fiance... Plus [Azan] doesn't have to post on IG for ME to see he loves me."

Despite having hard days, Nicole still dreams of having Azan join her in America.

"We [text] every day. Call at least once a day. Try to video chat a couple times a week," Nicole revealed in an Instagram Story in April, adding that she and Azan "have been intimate" as well.

"Trust me, he knows how lucky he is with me. I love him with all my heart forever."

A source previously told RadarOnline that Nicole planned to return to Morocco after her sister's wedding in June and marry Azan overseas, but that trip apparently never happened.

Nicole confirmed to a fan prior to the wedding she will probably not be getting married this summer but it is "highly likely" she and Azan will get married later this year, according to In Touch.

Nicole, however, probably won't get married in front of her parents and siblings because they had already lost a lot of money on plane tickets for previous weddings that had been called off.

Nicole recently said that after she ties the knot in Morocco, she and May -- who calls Azan "Daddy" -- will stay there for a little while before attempting a return to America.

The next time Nicole sees Azan will be the first time since her 2018 trip to Morocco.

Nicole recently assured her fans on Instagram, "We love each other and have worked through our mistakes... [I trust] him 100 percent," likely referring to prior cheating accusations.

Nicole also added her daughter "loves Azan very much and misses him a lot as well."

As for speculation Azan is using Nicole for a Green Card or to be a reality TV star, she insisted on Instagram, "We want forever with each other," and she was actually the one who had convinced Azan to do another season of the 90 Day Fiance spinoff.

Nicole also claimed she and her fiance have talked about welcoming more children together in the future. She said they've even discussed potential baby names.

"He wants children and a life with me... Azan is a loving and caring man. He's a kind-hearted person who is very family-oriented. I love everything about him," she said.

The couple would apparently like to name their children a mix of American and Moroccan names, but Nicole acknowledged there is "still some time" before they make those decisions.

Nicole also disclosed her backup plan if Azan's visa to enter the United States gets denied again down the road.

"We'll figure it out when we get there. We'll be married if that moment comes so it's not like I'll just leave him. I still want to live my life with him," Nicole explained on Instagram.

"I think we would find somewhere to build a life together even if it's not Morocco... I would live in Morocco with him for a short time (a couple years) but long term we want to live in America together."

In addition, Nicole insisted in a Q&A session in April that Azan is completely into her despite what critics may think.

Although Azan mentioned in a previous episode of 90 Day Fiance when the pair was hitting the gym together that he was "55 percent" attracted to her, Nicole said he is definitely "fully attracted" to her physical appearance.

"Sometimes you just need to add drama in places there isn't," Nicole said of the show. "He knew what I looked like 100 percent before I went over [to Morocco]."

"He wouldn't ask me to change anything if I was healthy at this weight. He loves me and my body the way I am 100 percent, not 55... He always reassured me that he loved my body no matter what," she added.

Nicole recently shared that her relationship with Azan is "stronger now" because of everything they've been through as a couple on and off television.
