The Bachelorette star Kaitlyn Bristowe selected Shawn Booth and therefore dumped runner-up Nick Viall during Monday night's Season 11 finale on ABC.

Shawn ended up proposing marriage to Kaitlyn, which she was thrilled to accept. The newly-engaged pair is now embracing their relationship in public and dealing with the aftermath of a very controversial season.

During a Tuesday conference call, Kaitlyn and Shawn talked to reporters about their experience on the show, their love and what's next. Below is a portion of their interview. Check back with Reality TV World soon for more.

Kaitlyn, when did you know for certain that you were going to pick Shawn?

Kaitlyn Bristowe: I think I hoped it from Day 1 and it just ended up that I was right.

What was it about each other that gave you the feeling you had found your future husband/wife?

Kaitlyn Bristowe: Even if he says he was really nervous, he just had this calming presence about him and I just felt comfortable around him already. It helped that he smelled delicious. His looks helped him out a little too. And once I sat down with him a couple times, I saw he had a personality and sense of humor and kind of seemed like the perfect little package.

Shawn Booth: As soon as I got out of that limo and we were just holding hands, it was something I never felt before. So we definitely had that immediate connection, and I think, like Kaitlyn was saying, we hoped we would end up with each other at the final day. We fought through everything and here we are now. And we're as happy as can be.

Kaitlyn, why didn't you stop Nick earlier in his final Rose Ceremony speech? You waited until he actually took the engagement ring out of his pocket.

Kaitlyn Bristowe: I mean, I'm sorry, I don't really know. I think I was just giving him a chance to express how he felt and I didn't really know how or when to stop him, because I knew no matter what, it was going to be the worst thing ever.

Now that everyone knows Shawn is the winner, could you explain the Snapchat?

Kaitlyn Bristowe: So, basically, there's only a few amount of people who knew we were together, so we were sending a Snapchat to one of the producers and I accidentally made it go to my "Story" instead of to the producer. And we felt sick to our stomach about it and had mild heart attacks. We felt really bad.

What are your thoughts on whom the next Bachelor should be?

Shawn Booth: Ben Higgins!

Kaitlyn Bristowe: We both agree Ben H.

Why Ben H.?

Shawn Booth: He's just an amazing guy, one of the nicest people I've ever met with the biggest heart. He deserves nothing but the best. And we, you know, had a special bond on the show. We were rooming with each other every night and just supporting one another. I think he's as genuine as they come. I think he'd make the perfect Bachelor.

Kaitlyn Bristowe: Do you want to be with Ben?

Shawn Booth: Yes. (Laughs)

Kaitlyn Bristowe: (Laughs)

Shawn Booth: I think so.

What was your favorite moment together this season? Was there a favorite date that stands out in your mind?

Kaitlyn Bristowe: One of my favorite moments this season was on the first night. I just had that feeling that I really wanted to feel, because I didn't know if I was going to get it or not. And I did. So that was one of my favorite moments.

Shawn Booth: I had a few favorite moments. Definitely sitting outside the log cabin by the fire just on a normal date. We let our guards down and I told her that I was falling in love with her. I think that night was very special.

How does that ring on your finger feel, Kaitlyn?

Kaitlyn Bristowe: It's heavy! I love it.
