The "College Sweethearts" team became the sixth team eliminated from the around-the-world competition after they arrived at the Race's eighth Pit Stop at Fort Manoel in Malta in last place.

"We definitely went further than our own expectations. We're going to have some amazing stories to share with everyone back home. And my mom, I'm just hoping she'll see the craziness that we are as boyfriends -- and not as roommates -- and accept us for who we really are. I think we did 'Team Purple' proud," Te Jay said following his team's ouster.

The eighth episode of The Amazing Race's 25th season began with the Race's six remaining teams leaving Sicily.

"Married Dentists" Misti Raman and Jim Raman departed the seventh Pit Stop in first place at 6:37AM.

Following the dentists were "Urban Bike Racers" Kym Perfetto and Alli Forsythe at 6:42AM, "Food Scientists" Amy DeJong and Maya Warren at 7:10AM, "Dating Pro Wrestlers" Brooke Adams and Robbie E. Strauss at 7:11AM, "Married Surfers" Bethany Hamilton and Adam Dirks at 7:40AM, and finally Tim and Te Jay at 7:44AM.

The teams' first set of clues instructed them to make their way via ferry to the island nation of Malta in the center of the Mediterranean Sea. Upon arrival, they had to pick up an order of drinks from The Bridge Bar and then climb a huge staircase while carrying the heavy tray of drinks to the Knights of Malta.

Brooke and Robbie said they couldn't stand the cyclists because they were shady and strong. The pair got the other teams to agree upon U-Turning Kym and Alli at the next opportunity.

Balancing the drinks on the tray while walking upstairs proved to be a difficult task. Jim dropped his glasses just as he exited the bar door. Amy and Maya took six attempts to complete the trip, while Tim and Te Jay dropped a glass just as they were approaching the top of the staircase. Adam and Bethany had already reached the knights when Bethany broke her glasses.

Kym and Alli finished the task in first place, and they were soon followed by Brooke and Robbie, Misti and Jim, Adam and Bethany, Tim and Te Jay, and Amy and Maya.

Brooke and Robbie and Adam and Bethany had a tough time finding a cab to their next destination.

The teams then learned they must make their way to a boat house called Zurrieq Valley Sea Inlet and search for their next clue.

Kym and Alli got there first. They were then followed by Misti and Jim, Tim and Te Jay, Adam and Bethany, Brooke and Robbie, and Amy and Maya.

Awaiting the teams were six cross necklaces which listed when the next available boat rides would be. Three crosses read the time of 7:30 and three crosses read 7:45.

The group to grab the earlier timeslot was Misti and Jim, Kym and Alli, and Tim and Te Jay. The second group was comprised of everyone else.

After the boat ride, it then became time for one member from each team to complete a Roadblock task.

For the Roadblock, the Racers had to rappel 20 stories off a cliff into the Blue Grotto, where they'd meet their partner in a canoe and then search for their next clue inside the grotto.

Alli opted to take on the Roadblock task on behalf of her team, and she was soon joined by Robbie, Misti, Tim, Bethany, and Amy.

Still maintaining their lead, Kym and Alli finished the Roadblock before any of the other teams. Following the girls were Misti and Jim, Tim and Te Jay, Adam and Bethany, Amy and Maya -- who passed Robbie swimming -- and Brooke and Robbie.

The teams' next set of clues instructed them to head to the Church of St. Scholastica and then search for their next clue.

Misti and Jim appeared to find the directions for one of two upcoming Detour tasks but failed to find the cluebox featuring the Detour-decision point. They called it "a fatal mistake."

Once at the Detour-decision point, Tim and Te Jay discovered they first had to complete an additional Speed Bump task before moving forward in the leg as a consequence for finishing the prior non-elimination leg in last place.

The Speed Bump required the guys to each paint the Maltese cross on a shield.

Kym and Alli read the Detour's main instructions at the church in first place, and they had to blindly select which side of the Detour they were going to perform. Following the girls were Amy and Maya, Misti and Jim, Adam and Bethany, Brooke and Robbie, and finally Tim and Te Jay -- who had completed their Speed Bump at this point.

Without knowing what each task entailed, the Racers had to choose between the following two Detour tasks: "Flag" or "Shine."

"Flag" required the teams to try to grab one yellow flag and one red flag -- that was even further from the yellow -- positioned at the end of a long, greasy pole suspended above the water. The trick was to run as fast as possible down the pole.

"Shine" required the teams to polish each other's armor using a certain time-honored technique.

The following teams opted to take on the "Flag" task: Kym and Alli, Amy and Maya, and Tim and Te Jay.

Brooke and Robbie decided to try the "Shine" task in addition to Misti and Jim.

After six attempts, Kym and Alli switched Detours because they couldn't get the difficult red flag. As Tim and Te Jay started the Detour, they noted there was still one team behind them in Amy and Maya.

Amy soon realized she couldn't sprint down the pole because of an injury she had endured when preparing for the Race, so they also switched tasks.

Adam and Bethany chose to use their Express Pass and skip the Detour entirely.

Brooke and Robbie attempted to shine each other for a while and grew frustrated with how long it was taking them. Therefore, they decided to switch tasks as well and try "Flag." Once Brooke and Robbie arrived at "Flag," Tim and Te Jay were still there trying to get it done. The guys were relieved to see another team struggling.

Within a short period of time, Brooke and Robbie declared the "Flag" task too difficult and decided to head back to the polishing one. As for Tim and Te Jay, they were shown making their 25th attempt. The guys determined it was too late by this point to switch tasks, however, they felt there was no other option after the pole task was found to be nearly impossible.

Tim and Te Jay knew they were far behind, but when they arrived at "Shine," Brooke and Robbie were still plugging away. Brooke and Robbie were thrilled to see a team worse off than they were.

Adam and Bethany finished the Detour task in first place because they skipped over it. They were soon followed by Adam and Bethany, Misti and Jim, Kym and Alli, Amy and Maya, Brooke and Robbie, and finally Tim and Te Jay.

Brooke and Robbie had trouble, once again, getting a taxi.

The teams were then instructed to make their way to the Pit Stop at Fort Manoel.

Adam and Bethany arrived at the Pit Stop mat in first place, where The Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan told them they had each won $10,000. Misti and Jim finished the leg in second place, and Kym and Alli soon claimed third.

Amy and Maya finished in fourth place, Brooke and Robbie arrived at the Pit Stop in fifth place, and finally Tim and Te Jay stepped on the mat in sixth -- and last -- place.
