TV Guide Online reports that CBS chairman and CEO Les Moonves expressed doubt as to whether a fifth edition of the network's Emmy-nominated The Amazing Race series would be produced, due to the show's continuing low ratings. Over the summer, CBS gave the show the prized Thursday at 8 PM time slot -- the slot occupied by Survivor during the regular season and previously reserved for Big Brother during the summer. Nevertheless, ratings for The Amazing Race remain anemic.

Said the 53-year-old Moonves, "I would be lying to you if I didn't say that [it] deserved better ratings." Considering that the show he shunted aside is Big Brother, hosted by Julie Chen, the 33-year-old woman who reportedly broke up Moonves' marriage this year, we believe him when he says that he's done everything he can do for TAR. Now it's just up to the viewers.
