NBC will begin the process to find America’s next business tycoon - one who will win the chance to earn a six-figure salary while learning from international tycoon Donald Trump - with a nationwide recruiting tour to choose finalists for the network’s new unscripted series “The Apprentice,” from executive producer Mark Burnett (“Survivor”). Shooting will begin this fall and a winter 2004 airdate is planned.

In “The Apprentice,” approximately 16 candidates from all walks of life, including both Ivy League M.B.A. graduates and street entrepreneurs with no college education, will endure a rigorous selection procedure as they are tested for their intelligence, chutzpah and street-smarts. They will face the challenges of living together in close quarters, must complete sometimes humorous but always difficult job assignments and will be forced to think outside the box in order to outshine each other to get to the top.

Prospective applicants should: be able to take risks, bounce back after failing, succeed in a cutthroat environment, go against the tide, remain focused, think creatively and be a leader.
