'Joe Millionaire' Evan Marriott appearing in ABC Family channel's 'See Jane Date' movie
Joe Millionaire The ABC Family cable channel has announced that Evan Marriott will be appearing in the network's upcoming "See Jane Date" original movie starring Charisma Carpenter ("Angel,” "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer”) and Holly Marie Combs (“Charmed.”)

Based on the best-selling book of the same name, "See Jane Date" follows Jane (Carpenter), a single girl in New York City, who tries to impress her high school nemesis, Natasha (Combs), by inventing the perfect boyfriend as her date to an upcoming wedding. With little time left before the big event, Jane embarks on a mission to find the perfect man (who also happens to fit the made-up description), sending her on an amusing series of blind dates.

Marriott will appear in the film as one of Jane's blind dates. The movie will air in August 2003.

'Joe Millionaire' star Evan Marriott gets Oscar -- the role, not the award
Joe Millionaire On the day that the Emmy Award nominations were announced, with none for Fox's Joe Millionaire, we learned that Evan Marriott, the bachelor from the show, wasn't too disappointed ... because he really has his eyes set on Oscar.

Oscar Madison, that is. The Brampton (Ont.) Guardian reports that Evan will be joining the Birdcage Playhouse, a local community theater in the Toronto suburb, for performances of Neil Simon's play The Odd Couple on August 20-24. Evan will be playing the part of sloppy bachelor Oscar Madison, made famous by Walter Matthau and Jack Klugman. Tickets are CDN $23 (payment in "loonies" might be appropriate).

Brian Bird, the founder of Birdcage, will play the other leading role, the fastidious Felix Unger. An open audition for the roles of some of Oscar's "poker buddies" will be held by Birdcage on Friday, July 18, and Saturday, July 19. We don't expect Zora Andrich, whom Evan has repeatedly criticized for her refusal to be his "bedroom buddy", to try out for this role either.

Evan Marriott suggests 'Joe Millionaire' producers "fixed" Zora Andrich as the winner
Joe Millionaire MSNBC columnist Jeannette Walls reports that “Joe Millionaire” star Evan Marriott is continuing to talk trash about his televised romance adverture.

Apparently having exhausted his state-side opportunities, Marriott has now been doing the talk-show circuit in Canada, where, according to one source, he suggested that the show’s producers urged him to pick “winner” Zora Andrich. “He said he wasn’t really attracted to any of the contestants,” according to the source. “He was hot for one of the production people. But the producers wanted Zora.”

And in another interview, Marriott had some not entirely kind words for Zora, who's "lack of affection" toward Evan even she won a jackpot of material possessions apparently dumbfounded (not that we suspect it was difficult) the former construction worker. “After the show, we spent two days together,” Marriott told Canada’s National Post. “She had gotten five necklaces, a hope ring, $500,000, and I had chosen her and she still showed me no affection. I was like, ‘Help a brother out!’ Even after the show, she was still uncomfortable and said she still felt weird about the whole thing.”

'Joe Millionaire' Evan Marriott: "I'm still interested in dating Sarah Kozer"
Joe Millionaire Back in February when "Joe Millionaire" ended, Evan Marriott explained that although he was "more intimate" with Sarah Kozer, he picked Zora Andrich over Sarah because of the likelihood that Sarah was a gold digger. How two months have changed things -- Evan and Zora immediately broke up after the series ended, Sara is posing in Playboy, and Evan is now talking about wanting to give a relationship with Sarah another chance!

The Press of Atlantic City reports that during an appearance at the Trump Marina Hotel Casino, Evan once again talked about how, during filming, he felt more comfortable with Sarah Kozer, but she was "too heavily into glitz and glamour for his taste" and how he still "might consider a relationship with her at a later date." "The last thing I want to do is stir up a big media thing," he said. "If it happens, it won't be for a while. It will be after everything dies down." "Everything" won't die down until at least June, as Marriott said he has FOX appearances booked through then (after which time FOX, in Evan's own words, has told him "See ya. They say I'm not marketable.")

For her part, Sarah doesn't seem to be interested in revisiting a relationship with Evan. During a recent appearance on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live to plug her Playboy appearance, Sarah reacted quite strongly to speculation that she might get romantically involved with Evan, saying that she didn't get intimate with him while on the show and she's not going to get involved with him now, and anyone thinking otherwise is "wrong on both accounts."

'Joe Millionaire' Evan Marriott criticized on speaking circuit
Joe Millionaire The answer is: "Basic economics." The question is: "What don't they teach at the University of Missouri?" We know this to be true thanks to Jeannette Walls on MSNBC, who reports that some students at the university are furious that a student organization paid Evan Marriott, the star of Fox's Joe Millionaire, a speaker fee of $11,000 to appear on campus.

Why were they furious? According to an editorial in the student newspaper, "The truth is, Marriott offered nothing in the way of intellectual stimulation, or entertainment, except for the occasional laugh at his own expense." Of course, to enjoy even those laughs, students had to pay to attend the event, and tickets cost a minimum of $5.

Well, for the benefit of Missouri Tiger students who fail to appreciate the "dismal science" of economics, we should point out that the sponsoring organization brought Evan Marriott to campus not as part of the university educational curriculum, but rather as part of an entertainment package. The ticket price range indicates that the organization was just trying to do a little better than break even. If they failed, the sponsor will learn a valuable lesson about supply and demand for yesterday's reality TV stars -- which seems educational to us.

'Joe Millionaire' runner-up Sarah Kozer to appear in June 'Playboy' magazine
Joe Millionaire Never let it be said that Sarah Kozer, already previously "outed" as a bondage and fetish film actress, wasn't willing to do whatever it took to earn some moolah. According to the New York Times and the Calgary Sun, Sarah, who only finished as runner-up on Fox's Joe Millionaire despite sneaking off into the bushes for some intimate moments with fake millionaire Evan Marriott, will grace the cover of the June issue of Playboy and appear in various stages of undress on the inside pages. Guess she really did have no regrets about her previous adult film work!

So, will Sarah tell all about how far she was willing to go to marry a multi-millionaire? We think not. In an appearance April 24 on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Show, Sarah complained that Fox set her up and screwed her on Joe Millionaire. Uh, Sarah, we hate to be the bearers of bad tidings, but we don't think that was the Fox network screwing you...

'Joe Millionaire' pick Zora Andrich feted in New Jersey
Joe Millionaire So much for the old saying, "You can never go home again." Joe Millionaire winner Zora Andrich may not have ended up living happily ever after with her faux prince Evan Marriott, but at least her former hometown, Lambertville, New Jersey, still loves her.

The Associated Press reports that Zora was the guest of honor on Saturday for "Zora Day" in Lambertville. Although Zora moved from the town shortly after winning $500,000 as Evan's choice for potential mate, she returned home to ride in a carriage down Main Street and then to sign autographs for two hours.

Proceeds from "Zora Day" went to local charities. What else would one expect from Zora?

'Joe Millionaires's Zora Andrich and Evan Marriott break up
Joe Millionaire The Associated Press reports that the made-for-television fairy tale has ended for "Joe Millionaire" winner Zora Andrich. The 30-year-old former substitute teacher said it's over between her and Evan Marriott, star of the Fox reality-romance series. Marriott chose Andrich from 20 women competing for his affection who believed he was worth $50 million, when he was really a construction worker who earned $19,000 a year.

"I really liked him, but we haven't talked since the `Joe' reunion in February," she told Us Weekly magazine for its March 31 issue. "He's so caught up in everything. I'd rather be with a construction worker than with someone who craves the spotlight like that."

Andrich said she kept the jewelry she received during the show, but has yet to receive her half of the $1 million she and Marriott learned they would split during the finale. Once she gets the money, she said, "I'm going to help relatives in Serbia get medical care." She also wants to become a holistic nurse.

'Millionaire' Evan Marriott & 'Bachelorette' Trista Rehn to appear in KFC chicken commercials
Joe Millionaire KFC has announced that "Joe Millionaire" Evan Marriott and "Bachelorette" Trista Rehn have been selected to join existing pitchman Jason Alexander in two upcoming television commercial spots hawking KFC Boneless Wings.

The two versions of the commercial, created by BBDO New York, feature Alexander interacting with either Trista or Evan. While the two reality show stars were selective when choosing their guys or gals, in both ads it's obvious they crave the taste of the new Boneless Wings. Each ad ends with either Marriott or Rehn affirming their love for KFC Boneless Wings and Alexander adding comic commentary about the two reality TV stars' experiences.

KFC's Boneless Wings also marks the first time that Trista and Evan appear in national TV advertising. The commercials will debut on Monday, March 17 during primetime on network television. The thirty second spots will air from March 17 through April 27 during popular primetime programming including "American Idol," "Friends" and "CSI." A condensed fifteen second version will air throughout the same time period.

'Joe Millionaire' couple Evan Marriott and Zora Andrich solicit separate personal appearances
Joe Millionaire Planning a big event? Want that special someone as a guest star to bring in the crowds? The Smoking Gun reports that the "dream couple" from Fox's Joe Millionaire, Evan Marriott and Zora Andrich, have signed with a booking firm to line up personal appearances.

Evan is available to appear and sign autographs for a few hours for $15,000; Zora for $10,000. The booking firm explained that the price discrepancy results from the belief that a male celebrity who can attract young women is more valuable, since wherever young women go, young men will follow.

Want them both? The booker promises that it can be done ... for a price. Geez, you would have thought a half-million each for their fizzled pseudo-romance would have been enough.

'Joe Millionaire' Evan Marriott implies Sarah Kozer was a gold digger
Joe Millionaire Reuters reports that Evan Marriott, the shaggy 28-year-old construction worker who pretended to be heir to a $50 million fortune for FOX's "Joe Millionaire" reality show, lavished praise on runner-up Sarah Kozer in a People magazine interview amd implied he believes she might very well have been a gold digger. And for her part, Zora confessed that she did fall in love during her stay at the rented French chateau... but it was with a horse.

"Sarah and I got along like gangbusters ... a lot better than a lot of ex-girlfriends I've had," Marriott said in the interview, which was conducted the day after the show's finale. Marriott suggests that in the end he rejected Kozer because he couldn't be sure that she was interested in his hunky good looks and winning personality and not the phony $50 million. "The premise of the show was to find a girl that I thought was into me for me," he told People. "Sarah and I were more intimate but that didn't mean Sarah wasn't a gold digger."

Marriott added that he knew "without a shadow of a doubt" that Andrich was not after his phony money, adding that she was "sweet and nice" and "the perfect girl for the show." And Zora admits she certainly fell in love during the show... only she doesn't say it was with Evan. "Oh, I loved those horses," she said. "Being with the horse, the one whose name meant 'Sweetie' in French, I was in heaven," she said. "That's who has my heart. The horse."

'Joe Millionaire' Evan Marriott and Zora Andrich already broken up?
Joe Millionaire The Contra Costa Times reports that in a recent interview with People magazine, the relationship between "Joe Millionaire" Evan Marriott and Zora Andrich came across as -- prepare yourself for the shock -- anything but starry-eyed soul mates.

"Is it possible to find true love in just a month with someone?" asked Andrich, seeming nonplussed with the whole business. "I am a true believer in possibility. I never rule out anything. But honestly, I think it would be highly unlikely. The chances of it are pretty slim." The 30-year-old substitute teacher and caregiver to the elderly also commented she was somewhat taken aback by Marriott's seeming lack of compassion for the poor and saved her only real superlatives for the horses stabled at the French chateau where the show was filmed. According to People, Evan also noted that when Fox presented the pair with $1 million in the series' finale, Andrich acted as if she just "didn't believe it." "I almost got mad and just said, 'Look, you've just been offered half a million dollars. Why don't you snap out of it and realize what's going on?'"

Then there's another indication that Evan and Zora aren't exactly on the same page: She says she's spending her half of the million on dental work for her mom and medical help for a cancer-stricken aunt in Yugoslavia; Evan's been spotted tooling around Los Angeles in a new Mercedes-Benz.

Television Ratings News : 'Joe Millionaire' two hour finale averages over 33 million viewers, record ratings
Joe Millionaire Never mind $1,000,000 for the two of them, maybe FOX should have given Evan and Zora a few million dollars each. Reuters reports that according to data from Nielsen Media Research, the two-hour finale of FOX's "Joe Millionaire" reality series was nothing less than a blockbuster for the network on Monday night, with an average of 34.6 million people tuning in. No other show on the other major networks drew more than about 18 million viewers in any one half-hour during the night, according to Nielsen data.

Fox said the show was the highest-rated entertainment programming on any network, excluding shows airing directly after the Super Bowl, since the finale of CBS' first edition of "Survivor" in August 2000. The final hour of the show, at 9 p.m., drew a 40 percent share of TV viewers aged 18-49, the key demographic for advertisers. Among women ages 18 to 34 who were watching TV at 9 p.m., 50 percent turned on "Joe Millionaire."

The ratings numbers weren't unexpected -- according to earlier reports, FOX was selling thirty second commercial spots for the finale for upwards of $550,000 each, one of the highest ever for a regular series.
