The Bachelor Winter Games stars Clare Crawley and fiance Benoit Beausejour-Savard have announced their decision to split after being engaged for only a month and a half.

The pair shared a joint statement on Instagram announcing their breakup on April 5, about six weeks after Clare and the French Canadian bachelor got engaged during The Bachelor Winter Games: World Tells All special in late February.

Crawley, 36, and Benoit, 31, posted a photo of their feet standing next to a little garden, and they wrote on Thursday, "We understand a lot of you have been asking about our relationship since the show, and we wanted to thank you all for the love and respect as we navigated it in real life off camera."

Since getting engaged, Clare and Benoit haven't shared any cute or romantic photos of each other on social media, so that was telling something was off or wrong.

"We do understand however, having a public engagement on TV kind of changes that. It's with a heavy heart that we have mutually decided to end our relationship. We think the world of each other, and we were both hoping we could make this work," the former couple continued in their statement.

"I'm sorry that this may not be what you want to hear, but it's our truth. Just know there are no negative feelings here, we are simply two people who believed in love, and were open enough to give it a chance. We still care for each other deeply (That is why no hate or disrespectful comments will be tolerated about the other)."

Clare and Benoit also asked their followers to respect their privacy, "as with the end of any relationship, it is never easy. Thank you for your understanding and love while we have shared our vulnerability with the world."

Clare and Benoit initially broke up on Winter Games due to Crawley having stronger feelings for fellow contestant, Christian Rauch, but Clare and Christian didn't really get along and struggled to communicate, so their romance never really took off.

Once filming wrapped, Benoit said he reached out to Clare to make sure she was okay, which flattered the blonde beauty and reignited a flame.

Clare and Benoit then went from talking on the phone for hours every day to spending a lot of time together in the real world. A friendship secretly grew into a relationship and love, leading to the Montreal restaurant manager's surprising February proposal.

Clare previously competed on Season 18 of The Bachelor for Juan Pablo Galavis' heart and finished as the runner-up. She then competed on two different seasons of Bachelor in Paradise, failing to find love both times.

As for Benoit, he found fame when appearing on the first season of The Bachelorette Canada, and he finished in fourth place.
