Vanessa Grimaldi's hometown date touched The Bachelor star Nick Viall just as much as it probably touched viewers.

When Nick visited Vanessa in her hometown of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the 29-year-old teacher brought the Bachelor to her school where she works with adults over the age of 21 who have special-education needs.

"Nick visited our friendly neighbor to the North, Canada. Vanessa took Nick to her school to meet some of the people she works with. It really was wonderful for all of us to get to see Vanessa in her natural element," Chris wrote in his Yahoo! TV blog.

"She is a nurturing and a caring person and I think Nick really got to see Vanessa at her most confident."

For their date at the school, Vanessa's students put together a scrapbook of her memories with Nick from The Bachelor.

Nick told cameras there was "beauty and magic" in the classroom that day, and it really pulled at Nick's heartstrings to see how much the students were emotionally attached to Vanessa -- not to mention one young man told Nick that he was really lucky to be the Italian beauty's boyfriend.

Afterward, Vanessa brought Nick home to meet her mother's side of the family and then her father's side since her parents are divorced. The number of people who gathered to meet Nick in Vanessa's mother's home was overwhelming and exciting.

"Vanessa's family, though, like many in hometown history, really wanted to make sure that Nick wasn't going to hurt her," Chris said.

Nick was grilled about his feelings for Vanessa and whether they surpassed a shallow physical level. The bachelorette's sister Melissa also gently criticized the couple for not talking about where they'd live after the show if they got engaged. It would be a huge move for either individual, and Melissa wanted to make sure her sister was ready.

Melissa wanted Vanessa to be cautious and wary, but it was apparent the bachelorette was diving headfirst into love with blind optimism.

"I think we can all relate to wanting to protect the ones we love most," Chris said, "but in the end it seems as if Vanessa's students and her family both granted their approval. I think that's all she needed."
