NBC's The Voice earned the Outstanding Reality-Competition Program award when the show aired September 18.

"To the Academy, we are so grateful to win again. We really, really love making the show. Thank you to NBC, Robert Greenblatt, Paul Telegdy, Meredith Ahr and Shelby Radloff for continuing to make it every year," The Voice's executive producer Mark Burnett said in his acceptance speech onstage, accompanied by a large group.

The Voice defeated the following nominees: The Amazing Race, Dancing with the Stars, Project Runway, Top Chef, and American Ninja Warrior.

The Voice's victory marked its second Outstanding Reality-Competition Program win in a row -- two years back to back -- and third win in the category overall. The Amazing Race won the award back in 2014.

The Voice claimed Outstanding Reality-Competition Program in 2013, but before that, The Amazing Race had won the Emmy award every year since the category was created in 2003 -- except for a blip when Top Chef earned the honor in 2010.

Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards, which aired live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The Voice had six nominations this year and also won the Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction award.

The reality singing competition's eleventh season premieres Monday, September 19 at 8PM ET/PT. The Voice will welcome newbie coaches Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys and also feature the return of mainstay coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
