The network announced its 2016-2017 lineup and fall schedule this morning, and The Amazing Race's 29th edition will debut in mid-season instead of being part of the network's initial fall schedule.

CBS will air MacGyver, a new reboot of the classic 1980s television series, in The Amazing Race's current Fridays 8-9PM ET/PT time period instead.

CBS has aired both fall and spring editions of The Amazing Race annually since Season 13 premiered in Fall 2008. While Season 12 had initially been scheduled as a mid-season series for the 2007-2008 TV season, it ended up debuting in early November after one of the network's new fall series, a musical comedy called Viva Laughlin, flopped and was canceled after only two episodes.

CBS had announced Survivor and The Amazing Race's renewals for the 2016-2017 season in March but not specified whether The Amazing Race's renewal was for one or two editions.

Survivor -- which is currently in the process of filming its 33rd and 34th seasons back-to-back in Fiji -- will remain part of CBS' Fall 2016 schedule air in its current Wednesdays 8-9PM ET/PT time period.

In addition to The Amazing Race and Survivor, the network also announced its 2016-2017 schedule will include a new season of Undercover Boss which will debut in mid-season.

The Amazing Race's 28th season, which was hosted by Phil Keoghan and starred all teams known for their social-media influence, just wrapped on May 13 with "Engaged Couple" Dana Borriello and Matt Steffanina winning the $1 million.

Meanwhile, Survivor: Kaoh Rong -- Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty, which is hosted by Jeff Probst, airs its finale Wednesday, May 18 at 8PM ET/PT on CBS.

The special two-hour finale of the 32nd Survivor edition will be followed by the show's usual one-hour live reunion show.
