Jodie Sweetin admits Dancing with the Stars has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster.

"Well, I was fortunate to have Candace Cameron Bure, who had been through the show, warn me. [She said], 'It's an amazing experience. It is life changing, but it will push the limits of what you think you are physically and mentally and emotionally able to do," Sweetin said during a Monday appearance with her DWTS pro partner Keo Motsepe on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"And it has been [really hard]. It has been. We're halfway through the season now, and I'm surprised at how often I cry. I think it's just like -- I'm crying, I'm happy; I'm crying, I'm sad. I think mostly I'm crying because I'm just tired. So the emotions are flowing!"

Sweetin doesn't consider herself "a super emotional person," so her sensitive reaction to the process has certainly been unexpected.

"It was like every week I told Keo, 'Can I not cry this week?' He's like, 'I'm not trying to make you cry!'" Sweetin said with a laugh.

"But she's been amazing," Motsepe chimed in before turning to his celebrity partner and saying, "You're amazing and I'm so proud of you. I love you so much for what you every day."

The 34-year-old Fuller House star overcame alcohol abuse and has been sober since 2008. Ellen DeGeneres complimented Sweetin on her decision to be vocal about that dark time in her life on the show.

"Yeah, I have been very open about sort of where my life was and how far I've come. I mean, this past year for me has been an amazing experience with all the shows coming back and really getting to do what I love. But I've learned to share my story, that I'm kind of only as sick as my secrets. The only thing that can really hold me back are the things that I don't share," Sweetin explained.

"And I think in sharing our stories, we all have struggles and things that we've been through and things that are not easy for us. And I think when we share with each other that sort of brings the humanity out in all of us. We all have something that we've struggled through, and I think that sharing those stories is really important."

Sweetin injured her ankle in rehearsal last week so it remains unclear whether she will perform with Motsepe tonight on Dancing with the Stars.
