Chyna's manager told the website that the WWE entertainer and actress "was found peacefully" without releasing any further details. While Chyna's cause of death remains unknown, authorities reportedly said there were no indications or signs of foul play.
Chyna is the sixth former Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew participant to die in the last five years.
Chyna's team announced her death on Twitter with the following statement late Wednesday night: "It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her."
After wrestling for the WWF, Chyna starred on Season 4 of VH1's The Surreal Life in 2005. She later returned to the network in 2007 for The Surreal Life: Fame Games and then again in 2008 for the very first season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.
Chyna was treated for alcohol abuse on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, however she also reportedly battled drug addiction. Prior to Chyna's death, troubled country singer Mindy McCready had been the last participant to die since appearing on the show.
McCready died in February 2013 at age 37 from an apparent suicide only months after former The Real World: Hollywood star Joey Kovar -- who participated in the same Celebrity Rehab third edition as McCready -- was found dead at age 29 from an apparent fatal combination of cocaine, Viagra and alcohol.
Former second-season Celebrity Rehab participant Rodney King was also found dead in his pool at age 47 in June 2012.
In addition, Season 1 and Season 2 Celebrity Rehab cast member Jeff Conaway also died of a drug overdose at 60 years old in May 2011 and third-season participant Mike Starr unexpectedly died in March 2011 at age 44.
Many past and present WWE superstars tweeted their condolences on Thursday after learning about Chyna's tragic death.
"Devastated over Chyna passing, she dated Brutus years before wrestling, such a beautiful soul and so kind to my children, rip Joanie love u. HH," Hulk Hogan tweeted Thursday.
"Someone who wasn't afraid to blaze her own trail & create a path for those who would follow. A pioneer whose star shined bright. #RIPChyna," Triple H. wrote.
