NBC is reportedly going after Magic Johnson for the role of host on The Celebrity Apprentice.

In light of Donald Trump's political campaign and controversy over racist comments about Mexican immigrants, The Celebrity Apprentice cut ties with Trump and has been looking for a star to fill his shoes.

Sources connected with the show told TMZ the network wants to find "a successful minority businessperson who's active in the inner cities."

Johnson is reportedly at the top of producers' lists but negotiations are not currently underway. Johnson declined comment on whether he's considering a position on The Celebrity Apprentice.

Who else are they allegedly eyeing? Latino host George Lopez. Lopez told the website NBC hasn't contacted him yet, but discussions have reportedly been under wraps thus far.

NBC is casting "a wide net" to find Trump's successor and some of the people who have been considered are Shark Tank star Mark Cuban, Sir Richard Branson and Martha Stewart, according to the New York Post.

NBC no longer wanted to be associated with Trump after he called undocumented Mexican immigrants rapists, criminals and drug lords in a speech he delivered back in June to kick off his 2016 presidential campaign. NBC's first big step was to pull the plug on the Miss USA pageant that recently aired on Reelz.
