American Idol eliminated the competition's underdog, Rayvon Owen, and determined its Top 3 finalists during the ninth live show of the series' fourteenth season Wednesday night on Fox.

Rayvon, a 23-year-old singer and vocal coach from Richmond, VA, was the bottom votegetter as a result of last week's nationwide vote that followed the season's Top 4 performance show.

"This experience has really been life altering. I'm going to be able to tell my children and my children's children about American Idol and how it's changed my life," Rayvon said in a video package that aired following his ouster.

Rayvon had been at risk for elimination almost a handful of times this season, constantly landing in the bottom two. The judges called him a "fighter" and he always managed to save himself with excellent #IdolFanSave performances.

Rayvon competed in three rounds of competition last night with Jax, Clark Beckham and Nick Fradiani. Each contestant was required to sing a Scott Borchetta choice, a hometown dedication, and an Idol judges' pick. Everyone sang their songs and the elimination announcement was made at the very end of the broadcast.

For Scott's choice, Rayvon sang "Want To Want Me" by Jason Derulo. As his hometown dedication, Rayvon selected "As" by Stevie Wonder. The judges even pointed out that Rayvon had won that round with his "effortless" and "silky" vocals.

As for the judges' pick, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. asked him to perform a soulful rendition of "You Are So Beautiful" by Joe Cocker. He was in his element with this song.

American Idol's fourteenth-season finale is set to air next Tuesday and Wednesday night, May 12 and May 13, on Fox.
