Patti LaBelle apparently surprised herself with how much she was able to accomplish during Dancing with the Stars' twentieth season.

"I've done so much that I didn't think I would do. I am so happy. I am. I am proud of Patti!" LaBelle told GMA host Melissa Rycroft after Monday night's Dancing with the Stars performance show during which she got eliminated.

"The past six weeks has been an incredible journey," added LaBelle's professional partner Artem Chigvintsev. "I had so much fun."

LaBelle continued to compete this season despite suffering from a nagging knee injury. She barely even seemed to complain.

"I have this great spirit, and even when I'm hurting inside, I am going to get through it -- because I can," LaBelle said.

The iconic singer, who is known for kicking off her shoes during concerts, revealed that was part of her quickstep's choreography last night. Her flying shoes were therefore done on purpose and not a wardrobe malfunction as fans have been wondering.

"[The dance] was designed for me to kick both shoes off, [but] one got stuck," LaBelle admitted.

On Monday night's Dancing with the Stars show, LaBelle and Chigvintsev tied for sixth place on the leaderboard with another couple after they received a total of 68 out of 80 judges' points.

The couple received 29 out of 40 points for their quickstep and then 39 additional points for their "Team Dance" to the song "Trouble," which featured her group playing different high school characters based on stereotypes like the jock and cheerleader. LaBelle's role was the teacher.
