Christina Aguilera will be returning to The Voice for the competition's upcoming eighth edition.

After taking two seasons off from the reality singing competition and welcoming her second child, daughter Summer Rain Rutler, with fiance Matt Rutler in August, Aguilera is making her comeback on The Voice.

NBC announced Aguilera will take the place of current seventh-season coach Gwen Stefani, who had replaced Shakira after Season 6 of The Voice. Pharrell Williams will continue serving as a coach next season alongside Aguilera and the show's mainstay coaches Blake Shelton and Adam Levine.

"We are excited to welcome Christina back to her red chair and can't wait to see how she mixes things up among Adam, Blake and Pharrell, in what will be an incredibly competitive competition," NBC reality chief Paul Telegdy said in a statement.

"These four talented artists are at the top of their game as musicians and as coaches. The mentoring is sure to be intense and the stakes will be high."

Aguilera, 33, starred on The Voice for its first three seasons before taking a break in Season 4, when she was replaced by Shakira, to spend time with her son and concentrate on her music career.

Aguilera returned to serve as a coach for Season 5, but Shakira filled her shoes once again for the show's sixth edition. Gwen Stefani currently serves in the female role on The Voice.

Adam Levine and Blake Shelton have served as mainstay coaches on The Voice since the show debuted in Spring 2011. Usher and Cee Lo Green had been taking turns until Green officially announced he would never be coming back to the reality singing competition.

As a result, Williams is sitting in one of the four big red chairs this season and he will presumably alternate with Usher going forward.

In The Voice's first six seasons, Levine won twice with his team members and Shelton has three victories under his belt. Usher won the show one time, but Aguilera has never coached a champion. However, Aguilera's artist Jacquie Lee finished in second place on Season 5.

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8PM ET/PT on NBC.
