E! will be paying tribute to Rivers, a comedy legend, on Friday, September 5 in a special entitled Joan Rivers: Celebrating an Icon.

Hosted by E! News' Jason Kennedy and Catt Sadler -- who will be joined throughout the one-hour special by George Katsiopolis, Ken Baker and other members of the network's on-air family -- all knew Rivers well very and will present highlights from her comedy career.

"A look back at her early days, and at the tremendous outpouring of love and support from 'Joan's Rangers,' her legion of fans. From her breakout performance on The Tonight Show and her own late night show, to her Emmy Award-winning daytime talk show and E!'s own Fashion Police, Joan Rivers' star shined brightly in everything she did," according to the network.

Joan Rivers: Celebrating an Icon will salute Rivers' 50 years in the entertainment industry, her family life and her impact on other comedians and fans. Rivers, who died at the age of 81 on Thursday after being taken off life support following a "routine" outpatient throat surgery, worked with E! for the past 20 years.

Rivers served as the host of Fashion Police and won The Celebrity Apprentice's second season back in 2009. She starred in Joan & Melissa: Joan Know Best? with her 46-year-old daughter.
