ABC Television and Mike Fleiss, the creator of "The Bachelor," have announced their newest reality TV show creation -- "Are You Hot?," a reality series that will scour the country in search of America's sexiest people. The six-episode series is set to air on the ABC Television Network in 2003 and will give everyday Americans the opportunity to tune in, log on and ultimately choose who will be the hottest man and woman in the nation.

During the series finalists will be evaluated personally - and mercilessly - by a panel of experts who have their fingers on the pulse of American pop culture, beauty and style. They will also be featured on the "Are You Hot?" website so viewers can vote for their favorites. Sixteen finalists will be flown to Los Angeles for high-end makeover treatments and to go through some traditional pageant-like competitions. Tension will rise to a fever pitch as the group is whittled down and two winners - one man and one woman -- are crowned "The Sexiest People in America."

"Great looking participants and high stakes eliminations are the hallmarks of memorable reality television," says Fleiss. "This should be fun!" "Mike Fleiss has done it again," says Andrea Wong, senior vice president, Alternative Series and Specials, ABC. "He's come up with a truly compelling show that will not only engage the viewers, but give them a vote. The audience is going to have a great time with this show."

Nationwide auditions for both men and women will begin within the month. Hopefuls will be asked to respond to ads reading "Do you think you're good looking?" Those who do will show up at shopping malls, sporting events and other public gatherings to be evaluated by the show's casting directors. Candidates should bring a few changes of clothes - including a bathing suit - and a couple of photos. The casting directors will also accept video submissions. "Are You Hot?" follows "The Will" as the second project announced as part of Fleiss' Next Entertainment and Telepictures Productions' wide-ranging deal with the ABC Television Network. Currently "The Bachelor" ranks as ABC's No. 1 Entertainment program this season in the key Adult 18-49 demographic. "The Bachelorette" is set to debut this winter, followed by a third installment of "The Bachelor."

"Are You Hot?" will be produced by Next Entertainment in association with Telepictures Productions for ABC. The show was developed by Fleiss and "The Bachelor's" co-executive producer, Lisa Levenson. Mike Fleiss is the executive producer.
