Mike Lubinski becomes the first houseguest to be evicted from the 'Big Brother 5' house

After being nominated for eviction by Jase Wirey, the first Head of Household, Mike Lubinski was evicted last night from the Big Brother 5 house by a unanimous vote from his fellow houseguests.

On Tuesday, Scott Long won the Power of Veto but chose to leave the nominations as they stood, leaving Mike and Jennifer Dedmon on the chopping block. During last night's live broadcast, the commercial painter from Eastpointe, Michigan, learned his fate, said his good-byes and left the house. After leaving Big Brother 5, Mike was interviewed by Julie Chen about his experience.

After the eviction, the houseguests competed in a competition called "Majority Rules" to see who would become the next Head of Household. In a tiebreaker, Marvin Latimer, the 36-year-old mortician from Conway, S.C., won the coveted position.

Each Thursday, the houseguests compete to become Head of Household. The perks of the position include having a luxurious private bedroom stocked with favorite foods, but it also includes the responsibility of having to nominate two fellow housemates for eviction. However, one of the nominees can be saved from the chopping block if they or another housemate wins the Power of Veto competition and chooses to save one of the nominees while giving themselves immunity from nomination. If they choose to use the veto power, the Head of Household must immediately choose another nominee.

Big Brother 5 is broadcast three nights a week on Tuesdays, (9-10 PM, ET/PT), Thursdays (8-9 PM, ET/PT) and Saturdays, (9-10 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
