'Making The Band 2's Da Band 'Too Hot for TV' album sells over 200,000 copies in debut week

By Reality TV World staff, 10/14/2003

Too Hot for TV, the debut album for Da Band, the hip-hop/R&B group group that came out of MTV's Making The Band 2 series hosted by Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, sold over 203,000 copies in it's first week of release last week.

While the impressive showing placed Too Hot for TV at the top of Billboards's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart for the week of October 18, 2003, the album placed second for the week in overall album sales to Outkast's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below double album. Now in its second week of release, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which also placed first in sales during it's second week of release, sold more than 234,000 copies last week.

Rounding out the Top 5 Albums were Sting's Sacred Love, with over 194,000 copies, Dido's Life for Rent (191,000 copies), and the previous week's first runner-up, Dave Matthews' first solo album, Some Devil, will fall (more than 154,000 copies sold.)

With Measure of a Man, the debut album of American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken getting released today and widely speculated to have an enormous debut week, the odds of Too Hot for TV sneaking into that Billboard Top 200 top spot anytime soon don't look too good, but we wish them the best of luck.
