"Someone who wasn't afraid to blaze her own trail & create a path for those who would follow. A pioneer whose star shined bright. #RIPChyna," Triple H, Chyna's former live-in boyfriend and fellow WWE superstar wrote on Twitter.

Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels, who was also deeply involved in Chyna's career as part of the fan-favorite wrestling stable D-Generation X, also discussed her death, writing, "Just woke up to the news of @ChynaJoanLaurer passing. So sad to hear, she was an amazing lady & I will miss her greatly!!"

Dubbed "The Ninth Wonder of the World," Chyna was a physically imposing figure who made her debut in the company in 1997 as the bodyguard of Triple H, a groundbreaking pairing at the time, as women were not seen in such roles in professional wrestling.

Chyna stayed by Triple H's side throughout the late '90s and together the duo helped form DX with Michaels, Rick Rude, and later with Road Dogg, Billy Gun and X-Pac.

Current superstar and WWE Women's Champion Charlotte also paid her respects to Chyna.

"Chyna was fearless to no man & a huge part of #womenswrestling her impact will never be forgotten. thoughts & prayers are with her family," Charlotte wrote.

Charlotte's upcoming opponent for her title, Natalya, shared similar sentiments.

My prayers go out to Joanie Laurer and her family. It's very sad to hear this news. Chyna was revolutionary for women in wrestling," she wrote.

Other WWE stars from Chyna's time in the company also chimed in, including her close friend, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley. "Joanie, I'm so sorry. I will always treasure our friendship and will never forget your kindness to my children. RIP," he wrote using her born name Joan Marie Laurer. "I wish I could hear Joanie laugh again. She had the most most beautiful, dorky, fully committed laugh," he said in a separate tweet alongside a photo of the two embracing each other.

"I had been in contact recently with @ChynaJoanLaurer to guest on The Ross Report. Unfortunately now that will never happen. RIP Joanie," Hall of Fame announcer Jim Ross noted about plans for Chyna to appear on his podcast.

Ross' former play-by-play partner Jerry 'The King' Lawler who called many of Chyna's matches also spoke about her death on Twitter.

"Glad I got to see Joanie recently and tell her in person how much I cared for her. She was a wonderful person. R.I.P," Lawler wrote alongside a recent photo of the two friends.

Chyna was found dead Wednesday in her Redondo Beach, Calif., home, her manager said. She was 46.

Redondo Beach police responded to a call from Chyna's manager and the manager of the apartment building she lived in, Lt. Todd Heywood said.

Officers found her dead on her bed. There were no signs of foul play, Heywood said.

The cause of death is being investigated.
