"I decided that a life without 'AGT' is not a life worth living," Stern said in a statement. "America needs a caring, compassionate and wise judge and who am I to deny the people what they want? It would be selfish of me to walk away."

"Howard's wit and character bring an incomparable humor and insight to 'America's Got Talent,'" added Paul Telegdy, NBC's president of alternative and late night programming. "We are thrilled to have him return."

"I'm delighted that Howard is returning to 'America's Got Talent,'" said Trish Kinane, executive producer and president of entertainment for FremantleMedia North America. "He is honest, charismatic and committed to finding the best talent in America. It's going to be an amazing Season 10."

Stern joined the show's judging panel in 2012.
