9-foot python removed from Australian thrift store

UPI News Service, 07/10/2013

Workers at an Australian thrift shop said a mess that initially had them thinking there had been a break-in, turned out to be the work of a 19-foot python.

Staff at the St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in Ingham said they arrived Tuesday to find the store had apparently been ransacked by burglars, but they soon discovered the culprit was a large python that was still inside the store, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported Wednesday.

Virginia McGrath, a local snake catcher, removed the python from the store and said it will be released into the Tyto wetlands.

She said it was one of the larger serpents she has been called to remove.
