A Boston auction for a pair of parking spots in the city's Back Bay neighborhood ended with a high bid of $560,000.
Ken Tutunjian of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage said bidding for the tandem spots in the neighborhood, where a single spot sold for $300,000 in 2009, started at $42,000 Thursday and ended 15 minutes later with a winning bid of $560,000, The Boston Globe reported Friday.
The ending bid was nearly twice the median sales price of a single-family home in Massachusetts, $313,000.
"This is just amazing," Tutunjian said after the auction. "God bless America."
Lisa Blumenthal, the winning bidder, said she already has three parking spots at her home, but wanted more parking for guests and family members. She said she was surprised at how high the bidding reached.
"It was a little more heated than I thought it would have been," she said.
