A Moscow Orthodox Christian group said it wants the city to close down a magic shop, but officials have so far only suggested renaming the store.
Yury Ageschev, coordinator for the Orthodox Brotherhood Union, said Tuesday he has complained to the mayor's office about The Witch's Happiness, which is located near the Kitai Gorod metro station in downtown Moscow, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.
"I believe that such a shop should not be located in downtown Moscow and next to the mayor's office near the Kremlin," Ageschev said of the store, which specializes in magic and esoteric items.
Ageschev said the mayor's office acknowledged receiving the complaint, but has yet to take any action beyond suggesting the store find a new name.
"Let them [the shop] promulgate their 'views' anywhere but in Russia, and especially not near the Moscow Kremlin walls," Ageschev said.
