NASA opens Angry Birds Space exhibit

UPI News Service, 03/22/2013

The Kennedy Space Center in Florida opened its latest exhibit Friday -- The Angry Birds Space Encounter, which was developed alongside Rovio Entertainment.

Rovio's popular smartphone game is coming to life at the KSC Visitor Complex, with exhibits including the Eggsteroids Slingshot target game, Red Planet Lazer Challenge and Danger Zone, a mirror maze, Florida Today reported Friday.

"Concepts of human space exploration are incorporated into Angry Birds Space Encounter, reflecting Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex's ongoing mission to encourage young people in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields of study," Bill Moore, chief operating officer of the visitor complex, said in a release.

John Stine, the center's director of sales, promotions and events, told NBC News the games educate kids without the children noticing.

"Launching the slingshots, lining things up, figuring angles and trajectories -- it incorporates math, physics, geometry," Stine said.
