Homeless man dummy in school project

UPI News Service, 02/19/2013

A dummy of a homeless man seen in a Swedish city was revealed to be part of a 13-year-old boy's school art project.

The Gothenburg boy, identified by newspaper GT only as Adam, said he created the dummy from cardboard and second-hand clothing and then placed it at the city's train station and a city park to observe how the public reacted to his creation, The reported Tuesday.

"Partly I did it as something fun, partly I did it because beggars are part of the city now," Adam said. "Some people give money without really checking who they're giving it to. I wanted to show that things aren't always what they seem."

"I was standing a short distance away and filming how people reacted, that's part of the project," he said.

The boy said the dummy ended up receiving $1.10 from the public, which Adam said he then passed on to an actual homeless person.
