Lucasfilm scraps plan for 3-D releases of 'Star Wars'
UPI News Service, 01/30/2013
Lucasfilm, which was recently bought by Hollywood's Disney studio, says it is postponing the planned 3-D re-release of two of the "Star Wars" prequels.
"Lucasfilm has decided to postpone this fall's scheduled release of Episodes II and III in 3-D," Lucasfilm said in a statement Monday to EW.com.
"Given the recent development that we are moving forward with a new 'Star Wars' trilogy we will now focus 100 percent of our efforts on 'Star Wars: Episode VII' in order to ensure the best possible experience for our fans. We will post further information about our 3-D release plans at a later date."
The "Star Wars" prequel "Episode I: The Phantom Menace" was re-released in 3-D last February.
