Couple stay active after 65 years

UPI News Service, 01/22/2013

A New Zealand woman celebrating her 65th wedding anniversary said the secret to lasting love is having an active life together.

Dorothy Inglis, 88, of Dunedin, said she and her husband, Peter, 90, celebrated 65 years of marriage Monday and the secret to the success of their marriage is keeping active together, the Otago Daily Times, Dunedin, reported Tuesday.

"We're always going out dancing, going to the clubs, housie, visiting family," Dorothy Inglis said. "Having an active life keeps you young. It's also important to have common interests. We both love dancing, gardening, socializing and traveling."

Inglis said her husband also supports her in her daredevil pursuits, which include speed boating and bungy jumping.

"It makes me happy and Peter always waits for me," she said.
