Two days before Terrence McNally's new play "Golden Age" is to begin previews, Manhattan Theatre Club said F. Murray Abraham is to replace Richard Easton.
Directed by Walter Bobbie, the drama is to begin previews Thursday. Opening night is set for Dec. 4 at MTC at New York City Center -- Stage I.
Abraham replaces the previously announced Easton in the role of renowned Italian composer Rossini. Easton is withdrawing from the production for personal reasons, producers said in a news release Tuesday. No other details were immediately available.
Abraham returns to Manhattan Theatre Club after appearing in the hit Broadway play "Mauritius." He won the 1985 Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of classical composer Salieri in "Amadeus."
